Sorry everyone, I know it's been a long time since I've last posted. I've been busy lately, but I just want to catch up. First off, I leave for Europe on Saturday! I'm going with my history class. We're going to London, Paris, Florence and Rome! I can't wait to see the fashion there, it's going to be incredible. I'll post about it as soon as I return, I promise! Sorry this post was so disappointing and boring, but I'll have a really exciting post when I come home from Europe.

Smart Investment

Sorry it's been awhile! I've been super busy lately.
I have recently decided to make what I think is a brilliant investment: an adorable pair of Tory Burch flats! At the moment, it's a little out of my budget and breaking-the-bank isn't what I want right now, but I'm always open to a little thing called "cutting out." I'll save up money and cut out a little of what I get from each of my babysitting jobs to go towards the flats. You should try it!

National Ugly Sweater Day

Friday at school (our last day before break) December 21st, was apparently "National Ugly Sweater Day." Although I wasn't particularly interested in throwing on a heavy wool and polyester Santa Claus contraption, many people did. And I have to tell you, Christmas sweaters can look cute! Don't get me wrong, the majority of them were--for lack of a better word--atrocious. But seriously, you can look cute in an ugly sweater sometimes!

I had a cute picture to upload but I'm on my sister's computer and I can't figure things out on here. I'll upload it later. So, the moral of the story is, if you're feeling festive, don't be afraid! Go ahead and wear that Christmas sweater that your grandma bought you last year.

Hold the Pumps, Extra Flats

Prada has been pumpin' out the flats lately, and boy does it make me happy. They're chic, adorable, young and fun; unfortunately, they're not cheap. So at the moment all I can do is observe from afar. But hopefully, one day, my insatiable thirst for designer shoes will be quenched when I can put my claws on a pair of these babies. (Can you say, "sweet sixteen"? It's coming up!)

The strangest thing just happened to me:
Last night, I somehow acquired an orange Marc Jacobs tote. Unfortunately, I woke up and realized that it was merely a chimerical, extravagant dream.
So, when I woke up this morning, I rushed to the computer and pulled up my bookmarked website: saksfifthavenue.com. I frantically shopped by designer and pulled up Marc Jacobs, scrolling through his collections of fabulous handbags, totes, and wristlets. I didn't find quite the tote that I had dreamed about last night, but I found something even better:

A Cheesy Cliche Becomes Too Real

Love at first sight.
As shallow as it sounds, something ignites this flame in my soul as I walk by a showcase encasing the Prada Dressy Gaufre Frame handbag.
Sometimes, you just know. It's instant. You often stand and stare, holding your breath and hovering over it, not blinking because you're scared it'll be gone if you open your eyes. And you often don't move until your friend or sister grabs your arm and pulls you from the class showcase. And even then, you can't stop staring. And that's exactly how I felt, but in an understatement sort of way. That's the only way I can describe it, really.

Marc Jacobs. The designer's modern, young garments seem to epitomize what the stylish, youthful, fun woman should be wearing. That's what I love about Marc by Marc Jacobs. Everything is fun, everything is modern, everything is youthful, everything is chic. Although a tad out of my price range, a Marc by Marc Jacobs fall coat seems like the ideal item to save up for. They're perfectly perfect, and would look fantastic accompanied with a signature Burberry scarf (which is also a little out of my price range...).

Today's post is a little different than usual. I usually talk about what people should wear versus what they should not wear. But sadly, a common fashion faux pas has come to my attention, and I would like to address it. So, as you all should know, I had been vigorously discussing homecoming for a couple posts. Well, my homecoming was last weekend, and I wore the BCBG dress I described before. There were tons of adorable dresses there, a few tacky ones, and a bunch of, well, for lack of a better word... slutty ones. For all you high school girls reading this, I beg of you, please do not wear slutty or borderline risque dresses to a school dance. NOTHING is more of a fashion faux pas than a dress that leaves nothing to the imagination. There are ways to be gorgeous and "sexy" without taking it too far. And if you see a nice, cute, black shirt dressed with nice pants or jeans, PLEASE do not make that shirt into a dress. A shirt is a shirt. It should be peacefully left that way.

Homecoming Help: SOLVED!

Good news everyone! Well, about three weeks ago, I got a date to homecoming. And you all know with that date, comes a dress. So last Saturday I went down to Saks with my friend Lauren, tried on zillions of dresses--belted, haltered, bejeweled and strapless-- and I finally found "the one." I was unable to locate a picture of it, but I'll describe it: It's BCBG Max Azria. It's a black minidress, with a box sleeveless cut. The front has pockets, and is covered in littly tiny sequins. It's adorable, fun and young- just what I wanted. I'm wearing it with black patent leather round-toed pumps. I also want long wavy hair, kind of tossled and sultry so to speak, and a dramatic smoky eye for makeup. I love the concept of it, really nighttime young and fun, and I think the whole look is going to look great. Does it sound cute to you?

My sophomore homecoming is coming up at the end of September. I know, fantastic. It seems simple, right? Well here's the thing: my mom says that I can only get a new dress if I get a date. I am dateless at the moment, which isn't too good, and getting a date is on the top of the priority list. But also, I need to pick the dress that I will get after I get the date, which will happen because I need a new dress. Got it? So i went looking on saksfifthavenue.com because that's where I got my freshman homecoming dress, and I picked out some of my favorites. Okay, I've decided to go over some wardrobe items that a woman should not, under any circumstances, be without. It doesn't matter if you're not into fashion (but if you're reading this blog, you probably are) these accessories are NO BRAINERS but completely necessary. And maybe even worth a few extra bucks.

First off: No girl should be without a brown tote. It practically goes with anything, it's basically just a go-to bag where you keep all your things. Wallet, cell phone, nail filer, pen and paper, tampons, those kind of things, you know what I'm saying. Brown totes can be found virtually anywhere, and will come in handy all the time. Splurge, anyone?

Very recently, Delia's closed in the only mall that was in possession of a Delia's within an hour radius of my home. I'm upset about this for two reasons: a) I was planning on working there soon. b) I was looking on the website, and they have the most adorable, cheapest fall heels, along with the cutest new fall clothes. But let's focus on the heel's here. They are plaid, wedged, laced and bowed, and all under $50.

Cristobal Balenciaga Mastered a Design Era

A born fashion designer, Cristobal Balenciaga was born in Spain in 1895, and obtained his first client at age 13. Balenciaga then made his way to Madrid for formal training. Shortly after that in 1919, Balenciaga had his own couture salons in Barcelona and Madrid. The Spanish Civil War forced him to flee to Paris, where he showed off some of fashion's most influential designs: the cocoon coat, the chemise and the baby-doll dress. Balenciaga closed his empire in 1968. Fortunately, his legacy lived on in some of his assistants. This season, the house has been reinvigorated by Nicolas Ghesquiere, who is reliving the most memorable, rigorous cuts that Balenciaga first became famous for. Boy, am I happy that Balenciaga is back in the fashion spotlight.

I think I've fallen in love: Kate Hudson has never looked cuter in this chain-laden Chanel dress. I love the bows, and she looks so sophisticated yet so fun at the same time. I want it! Bad! And even though Rachel Bilson wore the same dress in January, I still think Kate looks cuter in it (shhh...). Oh, and the all black from the waist down with the tights and the pumps gives it a sweet touch... love it!

This is exactly what I felt when I discovered that one of the most stylish spring trends are jewel tones. With deep blues, greens, reds and purples, this trend is bound to be timeless. The New Skinny Jeans... Hm...

Now, I'm all for skinny jeans. I mean, I wear them everyday, I probably own more skinny jeans than underwear. I love Nicole Richie in them (right), and she inspired me the most to try something new. So when I heard that wide legged jeans were the new skinnies, I was a bit apprehensive. I mean, I've seen wide legged jeans on the runway and on celebrities, and don't get me wrong, they look fabulous. But, I'm a little frightened to try them. I have my daily routine already set; shirt, ballet flats, skinny jeans, and sometimes if I'm feeling wild, I'll throw in a headband. Why change now? Or maybe this is just my excuse, to cover my fear of failing--that is, looking bad in the latest trend. Can I possibly build up the confidence, courage and ambition to try this new look? Because, the truth is, you NEED to be confident courageous and ambitious to pull off these wideys!

Sienna Miller. She's gorgeous, original, and dated Jude Law. But most importantly, she's stylish. But that's an understatement-- she embodies and embraces everything that the bohemian chic style is all about. Kudos Sienna, to absolutely changing modern fashion--and being the butt of my envy. (Come on, Jude's not a bad looking man.)

As I strolled through the mall, I had my game plan. Grab everything, there's no such thing as price, and grab more. This is how it's always been. Life as a fashionista, ain't so easy. You find yourself getting competitive with the fellow fashionistas in your high school. You find that your mood frequently swings depending on your outfit. An unhappy habit, yes, but an addictive one. Clothes are my crack.

And as my dad stared me in the eye, I sort of, well, panicked. "What the hell are you going to do with your life? Do you expect to get into college?" I was speechless. I never really thought about it. And now that I do think about it, I realize, clothes are the only thing I'm good at. I mean, my sister just got into one of the best college programs in the country because she's athletic, co-editor of the school newspaper, and is taking all AP classes. I do fashion. Zac Posen. Coco Chanel. YSL. Fashion, is what I live for. As cliche as it may sound, I just...love clothes.
